Display and CPU Drawings

One of the more common requests we get is for mechanical drawings of the display bezel to help in laying out a panel. These drawings are in PDF format and can be downloaded and printed. They are also available in Panel Planner, and on the Free Experimental Panel Builder (thanks Bill!)
. The dimensions shown with pictures are approximate.

Multiport Serial Modification

This modification adds another four (4) ports to the EFIS/One to allow you to hook up a FADEC, SL30, GPSS output and whatever else you may need. This is in the manual, but a fair number of people call for this drawing, you can find it on our download page.

Battery Backup EFIS/One

If you want the EFIS/One to be on during engine start, take a look at the battery backup tech note on our download page. You'll have backup power and the EFIS/One can be on to monitor engine gauges during the start process.

BMA Current Sensor

The BMA Current Sensor is now available for $95.00. For details, download the tech note from our download page

BMA L39 RPM Adapter

The BMA L39 RPM Sensor is now available for $140.00  For details, download the tech note from our download page

Wiring Harnesses

Blue Mountain offers an optional wiring harness kit. The standard kit includes a DB37 and DB25 wired with teflon cable, each marked, every six inches, with the corresponding pin number on the connector.  The cable is 20' in length allowing the builder to trim as necessary and connect to your engine probes. If the Analog 3 option (16 more engine gauges) is purchased, you will also need to purchase the Analog 3 Cable harness to simplify the wiring of these additional probes.

Each Cable is numbered.

Blue Mountain also offers a "Customized Cable Set" which is pinned specifically for your engine and comes pre-labeled showing you exactly which wire goes to which sensor and calibrated for the sensors your purchase. Makes a "Plug 'n Play" system.

Test Harnesses

You can make a test harness for your EFIS/One if you want to check it out, or to troubleshoot problems in airframe wiring. Take a look! These can be a real help.

Magnetometer

We use a Blue Mountain Avionics magnetometer for all of our EFIS products. It is best mounted out in the wing, empennage or canard (if so equipped!) to avoid magnetic interference. Mount the magnetometer with brass or nylon hardware and at least 12" away from any ferrous metals and electrical cables.

Fuel Tank Probes

Blue Mountain Avionics sells a small circuit board to convert the Van's capacitance fuel probes over to a voltage which can then be read by the EFIS/One.

Princeton Electronics can provide Frequency to Voltage Conversion needed for the Vision Micro Systems Probes used by many Lancair aircraft.  Please contact Todd Stehouwer at Princeton on 616 281 5193.  The Blue Mountain EFIS/One requires to 0-5V output.

Engine Sensors

We suggest that you contact Blue Mountain Avionics' technical support before purchasing your engine probes. We stock most sensors that work well with our EFIS products. We will also do a customized sensor map for you which will tell you which sensor to wire on which pin on each Analog cable connector.

A few points worth considering: while EFIS/One can use either type of fuel level sensors, the capacitive works a lot better in practice. Same goes for pressure sensor. Active sensors like the Westach 387-100KV are more accurate than their resistive counterparts. It's a few more bucks, but well worth it in my book.
