Gee Whiz,
Just when I thought the whining was over,
we have a recurrence.

Richard would you please be considerate of
the 95% of BMA users who have no interest
in your travails and keeping off the
list until you have something meaningful
to add. Two weeks for an RMA is not
notable. The boys at BMA are working
weekends to ship lots of those little
Sport boxes. Ever hear that the needs
of the many outweight the needs of the one?

When its been 2-3 months, then
your complaint might resonate.

95r, or is it A.User,

I disagree. I am very interested in what Mr. Cano's problem turns out to be and how and when it gets resolved.

You should also talk to Dick or is it Richard about the different companies and people he has had building his aircraft. I believe there have been many, all of which Dick has ended up with an adversarial relationship.

Richard,

We are very backlogged and will be looking at your unit either this weekend or early next week. Sorry, but we are simply not able to give one week turns on this sort of thing. We did fire it up, and noted some unusual Input Range settings, and a few other easily fixed Setup issues. Until we run the machine in the temp chamber and see what we've really got, I won't have anything meaningful to report.

On a side note, my very sexy Pitot/Static robot took a dive and we have been really behind using a manual Castleberry unit on all the new boxes. Otherwise, we'd probably have gotten the thing turned by now.

I want a successful resolution here perhaps more than anyone ...

Oh my gosh...Greg, I think he's got you on this one. Everyone who thinks Greg should just send Richard a new unit out on Monday as promised, please raise your hand and say "Aye"....

Then we could all sleep soundly at night without worrying about whether or not Mr. Cano will ever get his E/1 working...

Thanks for listening...I'm sure this is the most viewed series of posts on this whole board. It would be interesting to see how many of us get up in the morning and log on first thing just to see what the latest development is in the Cano/Richter saga :-))))

Yeah, yeah.

I'm guilty too.

FWIW... I'm hoping Mr. Cano will come back and say "Greg! You da man!!"

Richard, I read your note and am somewhat surprised. We are doing what we said we'd do. We'll fix the machine and send it back to you, or if it's a dud, we'll replace it. Fact is, it's been running all weekend with NO PROBLEMS thus far, but we're not out of the woods yet.

We found some very odd things done in setup and calibration, but once those were corrected, everything reads as it should in the test fixture. The radio issue is proving difficult to find, since it works fine with the radios we have in house, and on the test rig. We'll keep checking, and won't stop until we know for sure.

So far, I'm 95% certain we know what the problem is. The altimeter calibration, for example, was WAY off in the weeds, and did not use the cal points we use in our shop. We'll redo it properly tomorrow and take it for a chamber ride to be certain. Once we get everything de-modded back to factory spec, we'll know what we're really dealing with.

Give us a couple days and we'll have a full report of what was wrong, how it was fixed and where to from here. Thus far, no hardware issues, which I think is good news. It's all been keyboard corrections.

The only thing I see that might require a mod is your reporting a checkerboard in the corner of the map showing up during an aileron roll. The FLASH memory that was available when your machine was made was not fast enough to allow the map to update during acro, and this is (was) normal. Once the machine is working 100% and we know what the issues really were we can upgrade to the new, faster FLASH to keep your map up to snuff during rolls like the newer units do. FLASH keeps getting better / cheaper / faster, and performance keeps increasing.

By the end of the week I'll have it all documented test by test so we can be sure we've got it all, and so everyone else can learn from the experience.
