I love the idea in concept, just don't know how people would feel about sharing download time.

Hi Greg - dont forget high res for Oz!
Out of intrest is it OK to lengthen the the GPS antenna cable, I was just thinking about location and thought maybe the top of the Vert Stab might be pretty good - away from RF, clear of the airframe and unless things have got really bad it should be pretty much in line with the direction of flight:-) Peter |

You can lengthen the cable, but I haven't tried it to see howfar you can go. GPS is in the microwave region, and cable loss is significant. Each connector you add also eats into your noise budget more than you'd like.
Try it and see what you get -- it'd be a good datga point to have. The installs that are trouble-free from Day 1 usually have short cables, FWIW. |

I added a 25ft extension cable to the end of the antenna that ships with the E1. Seems to work just fine.
