Greg,

I have a TruTrak autopilot with the GPS steering option. Currently you have no output from the EFIS that would provide GPS location or steering information. What my autopilot requires is the serial output from the GPS and the GPS steering needs a left and right output in the ARINC format. I would be neat if your AP button and screen would control the trutrak, but I won't ask for that. But, if GPS information is not available from the EFIS box, I would have to add a second GPS box from Garmin that would do that, and therefore making the navigation parts of the EFIS/1 moot.

Bottom line, I would like the flight plan that is entered into the Flight plan screen on the EFIS/1 be the course that my autopilot flies. Again, all I need is the serial output and the ARINC-A and ARINC-B.

Pleeeeeeeeeease!

BTW, the product looks great. I have already had several people come by and take a demo look at it including the often mentioned Clay. Best yet, even the non-believers are impressed.

Is there any answer to my previous question about the trutrak autopilot. Also, is alt. hold also possible?

Come on Greg, throw him a bone!

Although I'm going to try your autopilot some people are going to want to use the TruTrak because it offers a degree of redundancy.

Is it possible to output just the serial data from the gps? Or could the EFIS One control the apollo SL50 gps.

Refusing to give up on the TruTrak.

I need to connect Tru-Track and Blue Mountain....the Seawind kit will only work with the Tru-Track autopilot at this time.....unless someone will test and gather data on their autopilot with the Seawind....please work with Mr. Yourkin at Tru-Track and remendy the following: 1) The Blue Mountain GPS should drive the Tru-Track with RS 232 signal and 2) GPS left and right steering should be capable to be sent to the Tru-Track.....with this effort on the part of Blue Mountain....when can I order my Blue Mountain EFIS ONE. Please respond....serious customer.....work with me....I want to give you my money.

Read the ops/install manual on the TRUTRAK. GPS steering IS NOT performed off the RS 232 feed; rather, you need the ARINC feed from the E-One to drive your A.P.
Greg, please correct me if I am wrong. TRUTRACK manuals are available for download from their website & include feed & wiring requirements.

I assume your post was a response to mine. So, I will explain what I understand. In the Digiflight install manual on the electrical wiring pin definitions, pin 25 reads "Primiary Serial Input...Automatically decodes NMEA-0183, Garmin Aviation Format, or Apollo/UPSAT Moving Map or GPSS format." Then pins 26 and 27, which are the steering inputs for the GPSS option only, read "ARINC-A and ARINC-B Digital Differential signals from Garmin, Sierra, or other panel-mount receiver which provide directional steering commands (GPSS) to autopilot. For Units with GPSS option only."

I once thought as you did till someone who attached one to a UPSAT GPS said he only hooked the serial output to pin 25, and it works fine. I think he has the gpss option. Anyhow, when I reread the text, It does mention specific manufacturers. Don't get me wrong. I would love to have the steering commands from the EFIS, but if that is a deal breaker, I think I can function with less.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

The TruTrak systems which have GPS Steering can use either the Apollo format on the RS-232 or using the ARINC 429 format on the ARINC A/B lines.

TruTrak -
You folks made my day with this posting. Our DFC 250 will take Garmin 430, Garmin 530 or UPS GX60. Nice to know we have the choice. Installing the servos soon. Many thanks for monitoring this site and clearing up the murk.
